Avilion Arts Festival Performances by ACT and the Fandangos

The Avilion Arts Festival, that runs from September 16th through the 18th, will feature four ACT productions and a new Fandangos show.

Encore Productions include:

’Dance-a-long’ that is an audience-participation show designed by Bajoy tracing the development of popular dance;

’Missing Pieces’ by Villede Carter that features his original poetry accompanied by songs and dances; and

‘The Unicorn Tapestries’ created by Bajoy that recounts the story of ‘The Lady and the Unicorn’ tapestries now hanging in the Cluny Museum in Paris.

New Productions

ACT also features the premiere of Moon Aerandir’s new theatre work, ‘The Strange but Fortunate Tale of Padstow Jack’ that weaves a poignant yet hopeful story from a mermaid’s monologue and toe-tapping folk tunes.

The Fandangos, led by choreographer Moon Aerandir, present a thought-provoking new work, entitled, ‘Circus of Dreams.’ If it were literature it would be
‘mystical realism,’ if it were an art work you might associate it with surrealism or even Da Da, if it were a theatre piece it might bring to mind ‘commedia ‘dell arte’ or even ‘ theatre of the absurd.’ In short, this innovative dance work defies definition, but is a feast for the eyes with choreography that delights, costumes that enchant, and tunes that leave you wanting more from this energetic new Avilion dance company.

Schedule for ACT and Fandangos events:
‘Missing Pieces’
Friday, September 16th at 3:30 p.m.
(ACT Main Stage)

Saturday, September 17th at 11 am

We hope you can attend these performances and all the other art events scheduled for the Festival.

Avilion MerBallet Company Dances in Support of RFL 2016

An appreciative audience cheered as the talented MerBallet performed at the RFL Activities 3 Sim on July 16th at 1:30 p.m. The merrow dipped, dived, and swirled spectacularly to a story from Avilion’s past. Written by Ham Thespian, the saga shared the fate of ‘The Dreaming Tree’, swept away in the Great Tsunami of 2012, that now waits in peace below the sea for a time when Avilion needs her once more and she will return.

The choreography designed by MerBallet’s Creative Director, Theta Marseille, had variety, colour, and splash, mesmerising the audience and had them calling for more. The dazzling costumes by JPDamien perfectly complemented Theta’s beautiful sets and effects.

The following photos show how audience was introduced to the story of ‘The Dreaming Tree’ and its role in Avilion.

AMBCo June 18th Performance

Avilion Merballet Mesmerizes Audiences

On Saturday, June 18th,  the Avilion Merballet performed by invitation in two separate venues: The Empire Room at the 3 p.m ‘Men in Motion’ show  and the Phoenix Dance Theatre at their 6 p.m. Saturday Show.  At both performances the audiences loudly applauded the skill of our Merballet Company.  Among the comments heard were: ‘awesome’, ‘fantastic choreography,’  ‘enthralling,’ and ‘a classy act.”

The performances showcased the choreography of JP Damien in two different dances.  The first, ‘Englishman in NY’ featured dancers with canes, stylish bowler-hats and matching fins against a striking New  York City backdrop.  The second, ‘Ring of Fire’ was danced against a scenic background as rings of smoke wafted through the air..
